Bacon reverses course to vote against uncovering the truth about January’s fatal attack on the Capitol
Last month, vulnerable GOP Rep. Don Bacon voted to create an independent commission to investigate the deadly attack on the U.S. Capitol, saying “transparency is good” and that “putting a spotlight on Jan. 6 will give us facts.”
How times have changed.
Today, Bacon voted to stop a bipartisan commission from uncovering the truth about how the violent attack on our democracy happened.
With this vote, Bacon is cowering to extremists and turning his back on our democracy in an attempt to cover up the truth.
Why is Bacon now so determined to hide the truth?
“Instead of working to find out how a violent mob broke into the U.S. Capitol and put the lives of members, staff, Capitol Police, and the Vice President in grave danger, Rep. Don Bacon is now working to make sure the truth never sees the light of day,” said DCCC Spokesperson Johanna Warshaw. “Bacon and House Republicans have clearly found common cause with extremists and insurrectionists, and the people of Nebraska deserve better than this dangerous hyper-partisan effort to block the truth.”
