Florida Abortion Ban Puts María Elvira Salazar In the Hot Seat

Today, a near-total abortion ban in Florida takes effect. The implementation of this ban puts a spotlight on María Elvira Salazar’s anti-abortion rhetoric and record.

67% of Floridians support abortion rights and do not want politicians interfering with their personal health care decisions.

DCCC Spokesperson Lauryn Fanguen released the following statement:

“Today, women in Florida woke up with fewer rights than they had yesterday. Under this near-total abortion ban, they will now have to travel out of state for health care. Voters are outraged over Republicans’ draconian policy and won’t look kindly on out-of-touch politicians like María Elvira Salazar who support the erosion of their rights.

“Salazar celebrated when the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade and has repeatedly voted to allow states to ban abortion paving the way for extremist politicians in Florida to ban abortion. It’s clear that María Elvira Salazar will fail to protect the rights of Florida women and Miami-Dade voters will make her pay the price at the ballot box.”
