Three years ago this week, the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade and ripped reproductive rights away from Ohio women.
Kevin Coughlin has tried and failed to cover up the fact that he’s worked for years to strip away rights from Ohio women – but his anti-abortion record is perfectly clear:
- Coughlin said he had a “strong pro-life record” in the Ohio state legislature, bragging that he “either co-sponsored or voted for every allowable Roe v. Wade state restriction.”
- Coughlin co-sponsored and voted for legislation that opposed funding and health care coverage for abortions. Coughlin also voted to restrict access to medication abortion, including Mifepristone.
- Coughlin opposed Ohio’s Issue 1 and dismissed the will of the voters, arguing Ohioans didn’t understand what they were voting on – even though more than 62% of voters in OH-13 voted to protect reproductive rights.
- Coughlin touted the endorsement of Ohio Right to Life, an organization that supports a national abortion ban.
- Coughlin has close ties to the architect of Ohio’s six week abortion ban without exceptions, who supported his campaign, and he worked to elect other anti-abortion Republicans.
DCCC Spokesperson Katie Smith:
“Lobbyist Kevin Coughlin worked for years to rip reproductive health care away from Ohio women and would be a reliable vote for a national abortion ban. Coughlin’s dangerous agenda is out of step with OH-13 voters, who will reject him again next November.”
