Responding to attacks on his cowardly, politically convenient denunciation of Trump, Congressman John Katko cited his record as a federal prosecutor.
That actually raises a couple of good questions:
- Congressman, why didn’t you disavow Trump when he attacked a Hispanic judge?
- Why didn’t you reject Trump when he threatened to weaken First Amendment rights and protections?
- Why didn’t you drop Trump for all when your party’s nominee showed a clear ignorance of the Constitution?
“If Congressman Katko is going to cite his record as a former prosecutor, then why didn’t Katko disavow Trump when he threatened to weaken First Amendment rights, showed clear ignorance of the Constitution and even attacked a Hispanic judge?” asked Bryan Lesswing at the DCCC. “The truth is that Katko is just trying to rescue his political career and distract from his own record of praising Trump and his cowardly refusal to disavow Trump until it was clear his electoral future hung in the balance.”
