Former Trump Lackey & Ousted Congressman David Valadao Pays Lip Service to Immigrant Farm Labor While Shortchanging Workers Every Chance He Can

Last week, failed former Congressman and Trump Congressional lackey David Valadao proved himself, yet again, a hypocrite and untrustworthy. While Valadao paid lip service to immigrants and Central Valley farm labor, his record and actions says everything Central Valley voters need to know.

Last year, Valadao walked out on a $325,000 settlement he agreed to pay to his former farmworkers over accusations he didn’t provide them a minimum wage and overtime pay.

Then this year, Valadao was found personally liable for an immigrant farmworker losing his hand and a portion of his arm while working a cattle manure separator on Valadao’s family dairy. Valadao’s family dairy was found negligible by a jury in not properly training his workers and not providing proper safety measures but has had the gall to appeal the ruling after calling it a “tragic accident”.

Not only is Valadao a hypocrite on respecting the importance of farm labor to the Central Valley due to his own attacks on immigrant labor, but while in Congress he voted eight times to block the Dream Act, which would prevent millions of undocumented people from being deported.

But Valadao’s rank hypocrisy is never more clear than him voting with Trump 98 percent of the time while in Congress, that was until the voters of the Central Valley kicked him out because his allegiance to the National DC GOP – which opposed immigration reform – was stronger than his own political backbone to stand up for his constituents.

Statement from DCCC Spokesperson, Andy Orellana:

“It’s no secret California’s Central Valley’s agricultural workforce is essential today, yesterday and tomorrow – but it is Valadao’s voting record and exploitation of immigrant farm labor that tell his whole truth. He is no friend or ally of families and farmers of the Central Valley – they won’t ever forget.”
