Juan Ciscomani has some explaining to do following the Arizona Republic’s bombshell report that he was the top recipient of campaign cash from his “bestie,” disgraced Texas Congressman Tony Gonzales. Gonzales admitted this week to having an affair with a subordinate who later set herself on fire:
- Why did you refuse to join other Republicans in calling for Tony Gonzales’ resignation? Was it because Tony Gonzales gave your campaign $30,000?
- Are you going to return the $30,000 that known sexual predator Tony Gonzales gave your campaign?
- As a “bestie,” “good friend,” and “brother,” how much did you know about Tony Gonzales’ affair with a congressional aide who later set herself on fire?
- What do you say to survivors of workplace sexual harassment who are offended by your refusal to condemn Tony Gonzales in the strongest possible terms?
DCCC Spokesperson Lindsay Reilly:
“Juan Ciscomani had several chances to condemn sexual predator Tony Gonzales, and he chose not to. Southern Arizonans deserve a representative with an actual spine. That’s why they’ll elect retired Marine Corps drill instructor Jo Mendoza this November.”
Ciscomani and Gonzales appear to have quite the cozy relationship, referring to each other on social media as “bestie,” “good friend,” “brother,” “the real deal,” and “my man.” Gonzales also came to Tucson to campaign with Ciscomani.
