Four Years Since DACA Implementation & California House Republicans Still Stand on Wrong Side of History

Four years ago the Administration implemented the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program because House Republicans including California Reps. Denham, Valadao, Knight, and Issa, failed to address comprehensive immigration reform.

Today’s anniversary of the successful program is another reminder of how California House Republicans have left immigrant families behind to line up behind their party’s anti-immigrant leadership.

All four California Republicans voted for a cruel, historic amicus brief against expanded DACA and for massive deportations and voted for Republican leadership that promised not to address immigration reform. And both Knight and Issa voted against allowing DREAMers to serve their country in the military.

“While reflecting on the success of DACA, it’s important to remember that it was House Republicans like Reps. Denham, Valadao, Knight, and Issa’s refusal to address comprehensive immigration reform that led the Administration to take action to protect families,” said Javier Gamboa of the DCCC. “Immigrant and Latino voters are paying attention this election. When it comes to immigration, voters will see no daylight between these California House Republicans and Trump’s un-American immigration plan.”
