Fox News Spotlights DCCC Ads Hitting Bresnahan: “He Represents the Swamp that President Trump Set Out to Drain”

Viewers tuning into Fox News this afternoon heard about how the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee launched a digital ad takeover of the Wilkes-Barre Times-Leader website to remind readers that stock-trading Congressman Rob Bresnahan has become the poster-child of the swamp that Trump – who won this district – promised to drain.

Fox News Reporter: “The House Democratic campaign arm is putting out some digital ads, not aimed at President Trump but instead at the Republican Congressman who represents this district [Rob Bresnahan], saying that he represents the swamp that President Trump set out to drain.”

  • Ahead of Donald Trump’s visit to Northeastern Pennsylvania on Tuesday, the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) is launching a digital ad takeover of the Wilkes-Barre Times-Leader website to remind readers that stock-trading Congressman Rob Bresnahan (R-08) has become the poster-child of the swamp that Trump – who won this district – promised to drain.
  • The digital ads, which will blanket the Times-Leader’s webpage during the day of Trump’s visit, read: “Donald Trump campaigned on draining the swamp. Stock trading Rep. Rob Bresnahan is part of the problem.”
  • “Congressman Rob Bresnahan has become the exact kind of corrupt Washington politician that candidate Donald Trump warned about when he campaigned on draining the swamp,” said DCCC spokesperson Eli Cousin. “Bresnahan ran on a pledge to ban congressional stock trading, but has instead become one of the worst offenders – looking out for his own bottom line while doing nothing to lower costs for hardworking Northeastern Pennsylvanians. If you want to drain the swamp, firing Bresnahan is a good place to start.”
  • Bresnahan has drawn the ire of Democrats and Republicans alike for his continued trading of securities since assuming his seat in the U.S. House in January.
  • The 35-year-old freshman representative has made 636 trades during the 2025 calendar year that total more than $7.72 million, according to the website ‘Capitol Trades.’
  • A report from NBC News last month said that the NEPA representative sold $130,000 worth of stock in four companies that oversee approximately 50 percent of all Medicaid managed care organizations just a week prior to his vote to slash funding for Medicaid.
