| If there’s one thing both Democrats and Republicans can agree on, it’s that David Flippo is bad for Nevada.
New reporting is highlighting how Teresa Benitez-Thompson is joining the bipartisan outcry against Fraudster Flippo’s financial schemes. Flippo has failed to submit his financial disclosure report — due over five months ago — has cited potentially non-existent investments, and claimed a donation from a woman who died two years ago. The alleged fraud has earned him three separate complaints to the Federal Election Commission, including two from Republicans.
When asked about the allegations, Flippo’s campaign “did not address them directly.”
While Flippo has made it clear he’d only make Washington more corrupt, Benitez-Thompson announced her plan to take on corruption by the horns. In addition to banning political insiders from betting on prediction markets or trading individual stocks, Benitez-Thompson would also work to strengthen penalties for campaign finance violations like Flippo’s.
DCCC Spokesperson Lindsay Reilly:
“The call is coming from inside the house: David Flippo is a fraud. Nevadans deserve someone who won’t cheat and lie their way through Congress and actually put them first, which is why they’ll elect Teresa Benitez-Thompson this November.”

2 News: Benitez-Thompson calls out Flippo for late finance filings
- Another federal election complaint has been filed against Republican Congressional District 2 candidate David Flippo.
- As of Wednesday, he still has not submitted his financial disclosure report to the U.S. House Clerk.
- Democratic nominee Teresa Benitez-Thompson hosted a virtual press conference Wednesday morning, calling out Flippo for this.
- “We need to know where he gets his money,” said Susan Fisher… a registered Republican. “Is it personal funds? He claims he’s loaned himself over $1.5 million.”
- Fisher filed the complaint first, then the Campaign Legal Center filed one, and now former Nevada State Treasurer and former Nevada Republican Party Chairman, Robert Seale just submitted one.
- “Mr. Flippo has decided that he can push the rules right up to the edge and then step over,” Seale said.
- One of the other claims in Seale’s complaint, is that one of Flippo’s largest investors, may not exist at all.
- According to an article from Mother Jones, the alleged company, America First Home Mortgage, doesn’t show up in records.
- The Wall Street Journal also reported that Flippo’s campaign had received a donation from a woman who died two years ago.
- “Our own current representative Mark Amodei won’t vote for Flippo and as recently as yesterday, called him a freight train of fraud,” [Theresa Benitez-Thompson] said.
- Benitez-Thompson is right. Amodei’s office confirmed to us that he voted for the third party candidate Lynn Chapman, for CD2.
- During the press conference, Benitez-Thompson also shared some anti-corruption policies she would advocate for in Congress.
- “I’ll also work to strengthen penalties for campaign finance laws because my opponent has put a bright light on this subject,” she said.
- Other policies she mentioned were limiting congressional terms and banning government employees, elected officials and others who may have an advantage [from betting on]… prediction markets.
