This weekend Republican Congressional candidate Allan Fung ventured out to actually speak with reporters, joining WPRI’s Newsmakers.
Here is what we got:
-
Fung continued to oppose the Women’s Health Protection Act to protect a women’s right to an abortion and was open to an abortion ban. Fung was asked three times if he would support specific bills to protect a women’s right to choose – he declined to say he would each time.
-
Fung said if elected he would support radical Republican leadership in D.C. that wants to ban abortion and has released a “Blue Print to Save America” that raises the Social Security eligibility age, opposes lowering drug prices to protect big pharmaceutical companies, opposes fighting climate change, opposes gun safety, and attacks middle class Americans.
-
Fung would not repudiate Trump for his actions after the election and on January 6th.
-
Fung continued to speak out of both sides of his mouth on gun safety. He opposed red flag laws in the past and now wants to deceive Rhode Island voters on his NRA-supported record.
DCCC spokesperson James Singer
“Allan Fung’s face-plant performance on Newsmakers underlines how out of step he is with Rhode Island families on abortion rights, gun safety, and the radical policies of the Republican Party. Yet again, Fung has made clear he is going to Washington to stand with Congressional Republicans instead of Rhode Island families.”
