Gabe Evans Votes to Protect Trump’s Tariffs

Late Monday night, House Republicans voted against canceling Trump’s sweeping tariffs on Brazil which are partially responsible for coffee’s massive 20.9% price spike from this same time last year — the largest increase since the 1990s. In August alone, coffee prices rose 3.6%.

Vulnerable Colorado Republican Gabe Evans voted to protect the cost-spiking tariffs.

Following the vote, Congressman Don Bacon (one of only two Republicans to vote against tabling the resolution), said the quiet part out loud:

Now, POLITICO is reporting that GOP Leaders are scheming to block any congressional oversight and accountability into Trump’s sweeping tariffs — including on Mexico, Canada, Brazil, and other nations.

REMINDER: Recent polling suggests Trump’s sweeping tariffs are deeply unpopular with the American people, with just 38% of Americans approving and an overwhelming 62% of people disapproving – up from 59% in June.

DCCC Spokesperson Lindsay Reilly:
“Gabe Evans can’t help but lie to Coloradans. After promising to lower costs, Evans voted to support cost-spiking tariffs that are only making things worse.”
