The endorsement highlights Vasquez’s longstanding record of securing increased funding and resources for law enforcement officers, including a $3.8 million increase for local officers during his time on the Las Cruces City Council and $9 billion in federal funding for state and local law enforcement while in Congress. Vasquez has worked with both parties to deliver on public safety solutions: upgraded technology, funding for violent crime and drug trafficking investigations, and protections for law enforcement officers that are critical to protecting New Mexico families.

- I’ve spent my career on the front lines of law enforcement. I know what it takes to keep our community safe. I know that public safety shouldn’t be a partisan issue. And I know the difference between talking about public safety and actually delivering.
- That is why I am endorsing Gabe Vasquez to continue representing New Mexico 2nd Congressional District.
- Vasquez has put party aside to deliver, and he supports law enforcement. Period. His record shows it.
- Vasquez’s commitment to public safety didn’t start when he got to Congress. While serving on the Las Cruces City Council, he increased police funding by $3.8 million. That is a real investment in the officers who answer our calls, investigate crimes and keep our neighborhoods safe.
- In Congress, he has continued working to deliver funding for our police departments and public safety officials to keep New Mexico safe. His office has brought home nearly $4 million for projects that provide local law enforcement with new technology, upgraded facilities, vehicles and other tools they need to do their jobs. Those investments include $500,000 for technology upgrades for the Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Office, as well as other funding for officers in Albuquerque, Carlsbad and many communities in between.
- These aren’t abstract numbers. When officers have better technology, better equipment and a better facility to work from, that can make a difference in how effectively they respond to crime and keep people safe.
- Vasquez has worked with Republicans on New Mexican issues like supporting our smaller and rural departments. Just this month, he partnered with Rep. David Kustoff, R-Tenn., to demand the Justice Department release funding for the Regional Information Sharing Systems program, which helps law enforcement agencies investigate violent crime, combat illegal drugs and protect officers. That program supported 94 criminal-justice agencies and more than 5,400 sworn personnel across New Mexico in 2025.
- He has also supported more than $9 billion in federal funding for state and local law enforcement and introduced bipartisan legislation focused on helping law enforcement keep pace with emerging threats, including the criminal use of drones.
