In the wake of the Supreme Court decision overturning 50 years if precedent, Garbarino must defend his unpopular and dangerous record of fighting to overturn Roe and block access to abortion, and answer for his party’s plan for a nationwide abortion ban.
-
Every single House Republican, including Garbarino, voted against protecting access to an abortion and protecting a woman’s right to make her own decisions.
-
Garbarino joined 125 other House Republicans in signing an amicus brief urging the Supreme Court to overturn Roe
Make no mistake: Garbarino is on the wrong side of this issue. Polling conducted after the leak of the SCOTUS draft opinion overturning Roe shows: by a two-to-one margin, people oppose Roe being overturned; 80% of people believe abortion should be decided between a woman and her doctor; and nearly two-thirds of people oppose the GOP’s plan to institute a nationwide abortion ban.
Garbarino still has yet to comment on the Court’s decision. He will be held accountable for his role in this recent decision and his party’s plan to institute a nationwide abortion ban.
DCCC spokesperson Nebeyatt Betre:
“Garbarino bears responsibility for the devastating decision overturning Roe. Garbarino must explain his record of attacking women’s personal freedoms and answer whether he supports his party leaders’ plan to threaten the livelihoods of countless women and families in Long Island.”
