GET THE FACTS: Zach Nunn Voted Six Times to Allow and Fund the Iran War

For more than six months, Zach Nunn voted for, defended, and dismissed the impact of the Iran War. Nunn voted five times for the Iran War and voted YES to send $70 billion in tax dollars to fund it – even as Iowans have dealt with record high gas, diesel, and fertilizer prices, and the deaths of Iowa servicemembers.

GET THE FACTS:

  • Zach Nunn cast SIX votes to keep the Iran War going and send billions in taxpayer dollars overseas.
    • March 5: Nunn voted to allow the war.
    • April 16: Nunn voted to allow the war – casting the deciding vote.
    • May 14: Nunn voted to allow the war – casting the deciding vote.
    • June 3: Nunn voted to allow the war – and the resolution to end the war passed without him.
    • July 22: Nunn voted to spend more than $70 billion more of our tax dollars to continue to fund the war with Iran War.
    • July 23: Nunn voted to allow the war – and the resolution to end the war passed without him.
  • Nunn brought Pete Hegseth – the architect of the Iran War – to Iowa to campaign with him, after advertising and then cancelling an earlier campaign stop with Hegseth in the immediate aftermath of the deaths of Iowa servicemembers.
  • Nunn told Politico that price increases caused by the war were “overhyped, candidly, by the media.”
  • He called the war “highly successful,” “worth it” and said to “anybody who wants to make this about politics, I say, grow a stronger spine.”
DCCC Spokesperson Katie Smith:
“Iowans watched Zach Nunn vote for and defend the Iran War for more than six months straight. Voters will hold him accountable for rubber stamping higher prices at the pump while sending billions in taxpayer money overseas, saying Iowans’ concerns about prices are ‘overhyped,’ and cheerleading the war as ‘worth it’ even after multiple Iowa service members were killed.
