Greg Cunningham Doubles Down on Extreme Policies Hurting New Mexico Families

Recent interviews have revealed exactly where Greg Cunningham stands, and it’s not on the side of New Mexico families.

While New Mexicans grapple with rising costs, threats to healthcare, and economic uncertainty, Cunningham continues to pledge his loyalty to pushing those same price-spiking, reckless policies and serving his D.C. party bosses instead of New Mexico.

DCCC Spokesperson Anna Elsasser:
“Greg Cunningham keeps telling New Mexicans exactly who he’ll fight for in Congress, and it’s not them. He’s taking his cues from extremists in his party and supporting the very policies driving up costs and threatening healthcare for New Mexico families. It’s clear Cunningham is incapable of being an independent voice for NM-02 – he’s too busy gunning to be another vote for Washington Republicans.”

Read it in his own words:

On Embracing President Trump:

GREG CUNNINGHAM: “I think President Trump’s endorsement is a good thing…it’s something that will benefit me, and I really want to deal with policy only as it pertains to President Trump…I believe his policies are good for the people of CD-2, and I’d like to help further those policies.”

REALITY: Cunningham has called advancing the GOP agenda his “number one priority.” That agenda has raised costs, ripped health care away from more than 38,000 people, and put over 60,000 households at risk of losing access to SNAP benefits in NM-02. That’s why the president’s approval ratings in New Mexico are at a record low – well below the national average.

On Being a Lackey to other Extreme GOP Politicians:

CUNNINGHAM: “I’ve…talked about President Trump’s endorsement. I’ve met with Speaker Johnson… Leader Scalise, Congresswoman McClain… 20 different congressmen and women… there are a couple already that I’ve identified… and they have kind of taken me under their wing and…agreed to, I don’t want to say the word mentor, that may be too strong of a word, but when we get there….I have people that are ready to show me how to get things done and to hit the ground running.”

REALITY: New Mexicans want an independent leader who will put them first, not fall in line with their party in Washington. The Members Cunningham listed among his “mentors” all have 100% voting records with President Trump.

On Tariffs Wrecking New Mexico’s Agricultural Economy:

CHACÓN: “[Farmers and ranchers] have expressed mixed reactions about Trump’s economic agenda. What are you hearing from them? Are Trump’s tariffs and tax policies good or bad for them?”

CUNNINGHAM: “I’m really trying to parse through the real issues to them… [we] need something to level the playing field… so I’m trying to find that balance of what works… It’s funny you asked that…It’s that process of figuring out…”

REALITY: While Cunningham searches for an answer, tariff policies have cost American families an estimated $1,700 in higher costs, and caused businesses to face higher operating costs, shrinking profit margins, and uncertainty. State officials warned New Mexico’s farming industry would take a “huge hit” from tariffs, while New Mexico manufacturers have already reported having to pass on additional costs from tariffs onto consumers.

On the Reckless War-of-Choice in Iran:

CUNNINGHAM: “I…applaud the president for doing the right thing…”

CUNNINGHAM: “I think it’s infuriating for people when their representatives stand up and tell them, don’t believe your eyes, believe what I tell you. And so, yes, things are a little tight right now… [but] yes, I do support [the war].

REALITY: Gas prices in New Mexico have continued to skyrocket as the president’s reckless war-of-choice continues, with New Mexicans facing the highest cost increases of the entire South West.
