Anti-Tax Icon Reminds Republican Voters of Roberson’s Broken Promise
The mud continues to fly in Nevada’s 3rd Congressional District Republican primary between outsider Danny Tarkanian and insider Michael Roberson.
Adding fuel to the fire, Grover Norquist, anti-tax icon and founder of right-wing think tank Americans for Tax Reform, just endorsed Tarkanian.
The endorsement carries political and historical weight because Roberson himself signed Norquist’s no-tax pledge, and then turned around and led the charge to pass the largest tax hike in Nevada’s history.
Raising taxes and breaking promises? That’ll go over really well with Republican primary voters.
“Whoever limps out of the Tarkanian/Roberson battle is in for a rough march to November in Nevada’s competitive third district,” said Barb Solish of the DCCC.
The bloodied and bruised winner will be running in a district with a growing Democratic voter registration advantage that President Obama carried in 2008 and 2012.
