In just a few weeks, accidental Congressman Cresent Hardy has successfully reminded us that he is just another self-serving politician. He continues to demonstrate his flagrant hypocrisy and tenuous relationship with the truth.
Hardy is:
A Trump Devotee
Hardy said he’d “do whatever [Trump] wants me to do to help him get elected” and is “100 percent” behind him.
Except when he’s talking to Spanish-speaking voters…
The very next day, Hardy told Univision he found Trump “frustrating.”
Staunchly Anti-Amnesty
Hardy: “I don’t believe in amnesty in any way, shape or form.”
Except when he’s talking to Spanish-speaking voters…
Days later Hardy told Univision “I am committed to working on immigration reform.”
What’s worse is that this isn’t the first time he’s tried to deceive Spanish-speaking voters.
Supposedly an Advocate for Reducing Government Spending
Hardy: “We must immediately balance the overly bloated federal budget.”
Except when it could help his failing congressional campaign…
Hardy ran Instagram ads with taxpayer funds with messages that line up awfully close to his campaign issues – including balancing the budget.
Supposedly Focusing on National Security
Hardy on gun safety laws: “I’d have to look at the legislation to see where I’m at on the situation with it…this is a national security issue, not a gun-control issue.”
Except when he actually has to vote on legislation…
Congressman Hardy has voted 24 times to block “No fly, no buy” measures.
But there IS one issue on which Hardy has remained consistent: his Tea Party approach to education funding.
Nevada is ranked 50th in the country for quality education and 49th for per-pupil spending – which Hardy calls a “blatant lie.” This week he confirmed he would have opposed last year’s bipartisan education funding package. Not surprising from the man who said, “I don’t need a teacher to teach my children.”
“Cresent Hardy is a shameless, self-serving politician with no respect for voters – or the truth,” said Barb Solish of the DCCC. “With less than 90 days until Election Day, there is no chance for Hardy to regain Nevadans’ trust.”
