Define ‘Outreach’
When accidental Congressman and Donald Trump supporter Cresent Hardy was named the second most vulnerable House Republican, Roll Call specifically cited that “Trump’s comments about Hispanics will likely be a liability down-ticket” in his diverse Nevada district.
But today, after meeting with his Presidential nominee, Hardy said he was “satisfied” with Trump’s response that he “gets along well with Hispanics” and said he is doing better than Clinton in Nevada.
However, Trump continues to have astronomically high disapproval ratings among Latinos, who make up almost 30 percent of the 4th District’s population. Hillary Clinton is also up 8 points in Hardy’s neighboring district.
Reality check aside, what part of Donald Trump’s anti-immigrant/anti-Latino outreach strategy is Cresent Hardy “satisfied” with?
Is it:
- Building a border wall?
- Deporting and tearing hardworking Latino families apart?
- Using offensive and mean-spirited language towards Latinos, like calling them criminals, rapists, drug dealers?
“Donald Trump has done nothing but attack the Latino community,” said Javier Gamboa of the DCCC. “If Cresent Hardy is ‘satisfied’ with Trump’s attacks, then he clearly has no business representing Nevada’s 4th Congressional District.”

“Donald Trump no ha hecho nada más que atacar a la comunidad Latina”, dijo Javier Gamboa del DCCC. “Si Cresent Hardy está ‘satisfecho’ con los ataques de Trump, es claro que él no tiene ninguna razón de seguir representando el Distrito 4 del Congreso por Nevada”.
