| Across Iowa’s 1st congressional district, Iowans are asking the question: has hell frozen over?
Miller-Meeks gave her constituents a day’s notice, for an event in the middle of the workday, apparently to fulfill her goal of making it as difficult as possible for her constituents to see her publicly.
The Gazette: “Democrats questioned why Miller-Meeks chose to hold the event in Keosauqua — with a population of 944 people — and during the middle of the workday, saying the short notice and remote location made the event inaccessible to many. They added that it appeared aimed at checking a box after the congresswoman faced criticism for saying she would hold a town hall ‘when hell freezes over.’”
Iowans have waited months to hear from Miller-Meeks. Here are just a couple of the questions they deserve answers to:
- Why do you oppose extending health care tax credits that will prevent health care costs from skyrocketing?
- Why did you vote against reigning in reckless tariffs that are raising costs, causing chaos for soybean farmers, and damaging Iowa’s farm economy?
- How can you defend your vote for the largest Medicaid cuts in American history, as hospitals in your district are sounding the alarm about how these cuts will hurt them?
- Costs are skyrocketing under your leadership. Why aren’t you doing anything to lower prices for struggling Iowans?
- Why did you say that you’ll only hold a town hall “when hell freezes over”? Do you really think so lowly of Iowans that you’re only now meeting them in person after weeks of backlash and pressure?
- Why did you pay your son thousands of dollars for “campaign consulting,” then try to cover it up?
DCCC Spokesperson Katie Smith:
“Mariannette Miller-Meeks told Iowans she won’t do her job until hell freezes over. That’s the kind of representation Iowans have come to expect from Miller-Meeks: the rare instances she does show up, it’s paying meaningless lip service to Iowans while making it as difficult as possible for them to see her in public and hold her accountable.”
