“He Doesn’t Answer People’s Questions”: Mike Lawler Dodges Constituents at Disastrous Town Hall

Hudson Valley voters say Lawler talks around tough questions instead of answering them

Mike Lawler’s first town hall of 2026 made one thing clear: when constituents ask tough questions, he refuses to answer them.

On Sunday night, Hudson Valley voters showed out “in full force,” according to News 12, to confront the vulnerable Republican on his disastrous record of bending the knee to Donald Trump and making life more expensive for New Yorkers at every turn. But Lawler’s constituents left frustrated by his repeated refusal to give straight answers.

One voter summed it up plainly:

“It’s frustrating because he doesn’t answer the people’s questions. If it’s a topic that he feels like he’s in the right, he talks for half an hour. But then when someone asks a specific question, he gives this brief answer but doesn’t answer the question. I’m tired of him not responding to constituents.”

Instead of taking responsibility for the consequences of his cowardly votes to slash health care and raise costs, Lawler chose to deflect, filibuster, and silence the very people he was elected to represent – going as far as to forcibly remove two veterans for pressuring him to answer.

DCCC Spokesperson Riya Vashi:
“Mike Lawler refuses to answer his constituents’ questions because he knows his record is indefensible. Hudson Valley families are struggling because of Lawler and House Republicans’ affordability crisis, and yet Lawler’s response is to dodge, deflect, and shut people out. Voters are noticing — and they won’t forget his cowardice come November.”
