In case you missed it, headlines and TV coverage across the Commonwealth are capturing the anxiety being felt by Virginia families after letters went out to 1,114 pregnant women and the families of 68,495 children notifying them that their coverage through the Children’s Health Insurance Program could be cancelled. Federal funding for CHIP expired at the end of September, but Washington Republicans have yet to reauthorize the program.
“These families will remember that the same week they got letters saying their insurance might be cancelled, Republican Reps. Scott Taylor, Tom Garrett, Dave Brat, and Barbara Comstock have been focused on passing a tax scam to give big breaks to millionaires and large corporations,” said DCCC spokesperson Jacob Peters.
