Health Care Premiums Are Skyrocketing in California. But Don’t Worry, Young Kim Signed Another Letter!

Californians are starting to see their health insurance costs soar for 2026 on the insurance marketplace – with premiums expected to increase by 97% on average across the state.

But instead of doing anything to actually help Californians, Young Kim is… you guessed it… signing onto a letter.

How brave!

You might be wondering: where have I seen this film before? Let’s recall:

  • Kim signed onto multiple letters saying she would not support the steep cuts to Medicaid in the Senate-passed version of the Big, Ugly Bill. Then what did she do? She voted for the largest cuts to Medicaid in history, which have already caused health clinics across the country to shutter and are pushing California’s rural health systems to the brink.
  • Kim also signed onto multiple letters expressing concerns about rolling back clean energy tax credits. Then what did she do? She voted to take a sledgehammer to those tax credits, and now thousands of California jobs are at risk.

Kim is back to playing her same tired political games – this time signing a phony letter that, if past is prologue, she doesn’t actually mean.

DCCC Spokesperson Anna Elsasser:
“Young Kim’s letters aren’t worth the paper they’re printed on. If Kim really wanted lower health care costs, she’d join Democrats in pushing to extend the ACA tax credits now, not at some unknown future date. But she won’t, and it’s her constituents who will pay the price. That’s not leadership – that’s lip service.”
