Today, thanks to Democrats in Congress passing the American Rescue Plan, 39 million American families will receive their first monthly Child Tax Credit (CTC) payment to help support their families.
The CTC, which has been expanded and improved through the ARP, will offer working families a lifeline and help secure a stronger future for the nation’s children.
The monthly payments, which every Republican in Congress voted against, will start hitting bank accounts on July 15. This benefit will:
-
Provide $300 per month per child for children under six years of age;
-
Provide $250 per month per children 6 to 17 years of age;
-
And help working Americans cover the costs of childcare, prepare for the back-to-school season, and get parents back in the workforce, helping American families make ends meet.
DCCC Spokesperson Chris Taylor
“With this expanded Child Tax Credit, Democrats are lifting millions of American children out of poverty and giving hard working parents additional resources to provide for their children as we recover from this pandemic. While Republicans in Congress voted to keep this critical relief out of the hands of families, Democrats delivered.”
