Child Tax Credit payments begin today, benefitting 160,700 children in NM-02
Today, thanks to Democrats in Congress passing the American Rescue Plan, parents of 160,700 children will receive their first monthly Child Tax Credit (CTC) payment to help support their families.
The CTC, which has been expanded and improved through the ARP, will offer working families a lifeline and help secure a stronger future for the nation’s children.
The monthly payments, which Rep. Herrell voted against, will start hitting bank accounts today, July 15. This benefit will:
- Provide $300 per month per child for children under six years of age;
- Provide $250 per month per children 6 to 17 years of age;
- And help working Americans cover the costs of childcare, prepare for the back-to-school season, and get parents back in the workforce, helping American families make ends meet.
DCCC Spokesperson, Adrian Eng-Gastelum
“By voting against this expanded Child Tax Credit, Rep. Herrell voted to prevent lifting thousands of children out of poverty and giving hardworking parents in her district additional resources to provide for their children as we recover from this pandemic. While Republicans in Congress like Rep. Herrell tried to keep this critical relief out of the hands of families, Democrats fought to ensure everyday Americans were provided with this relief.”
