Today, thanks to Democrats in Congress like Congressman Steven Horsford passing the American Rescue Plan, the parents of 177,100 Nevada children will receive their first monthly Child Tax Credit (CTC) payment to help support their families.
The CTC, which has been expanded and improved through the ARP, will offer working families a lifeline and help secure a stronger future for the nation’s children.
The monthly payments, which every Republican in Congress voted against, will start hitting bank accounts on July 15. This benefit will:
- Provide $300 per month per child for children under six years of age;
- Provide $250 per month per children 6 to 17 years of age;
- And help working Americans cover the costs of childcare, prepare for the back-to-school season, and get parents back in the workforce, helping American families make ends meet.
DCCC Spokesperson Johanna Warshaw
“With this expanded Child Tax Credit, Congressman Steven Horsford is lifting thousands of children out of poverty and putting money in the pockets of hardworking parents as they recover from this historic crisis. While Republicans in Congress voted to keep this critical aid out of the hands of families, Democrats fought to ensure everyday Americans were provided with this relief.”
