Young Kim loves to talk about the importance of U.S. soft power — just not enough to actually defend it.
She shows up for the photo ops. She praises diplomacy. She claims to stand with our allies and the State Department professionals who work to ensure America’s leadership. But when it’s time to vote to defend the funding and workforce behind it — Kim folds.
As Roll Call points out, she has “avoided directly going against the wishes of President Donald Trump on key votes…She voted in favor (twice) of the White House’s rescissions measure, which ended up cutting $7.9 billion in foreign aid appropriations, including $1.3 billion in humanitarian assistance and $1 billion in United Nations funding.”
Those cuts won’t just hurt American credibility abroad. They undercut the very diplomatic and developmental efforts Kim claims to champion.
News flash for Kim: You can’t gut the programs that make up American soft power — and then pretend to be its defender.
That’s not leadership. That’s hypocrisy.
DCCC Spokesperson Anna Elsasser:
“Another day, more hypocrisy from Young Kim. You don’t get to slash global aid, weaken America’s credibility, and then turn around and sell yourself as a champion of soft power. Voters see through it — and they deserve better.” |
