High Costs Motivated Latinos to Vote in Texas Primary

As Republicans push rising costs, Latino families are ready to vote for change

The Texas primary this week was marked by a surge of Democratic participation, especially across the state’s 64 Latino-majority districts. Turnout in these counties was higher than both the 2024 general election and the last Democratic midterm in 2022.

New polling from TelevisiaUnivision reaffirms that affordability was a defining issue for Latino voters in the Texas primary:

  • 76% cited the cost of living/inflation as a top issue
  • 69% cited health care access and costs
  • 67% cited jobs and wages
  • 65% cited housing affordability

On every major issue, Republicans are losing with Latinos and 75% of voters say the Trump Administration is not focusing enough on lowering prices.

DCCC Spokesperson Bridget Gonzalez:
“Voters keep feeling the pain of higher costs — groceries, utilities, rent, and everyday goods are too expensive for hardworking families. This daily struggle motivated Latino voters to show up for the Texas primary and it will motivate them to send Republicans packing in November.”
