First Quarter: Despite being in the minority, the DCCC brought in nearly $25 million in the first quarter of 2016. This is an historic total when compared to previous first quarters in the on-year.
March: The DCCC raised more than $11.3 million in March alone.
Cash on Hand: The DCCC now has more than $44 million Cash on Hand. The DCCC is in a very strong financial position, with double the $22 million that the Committee had at this point in 2012, the last presidential cycle.
The DCCC carries no debt.
DCCC Chairman Ben Ray Lujan is sustaining a blistering pace of fundraising around the country. In the first quarter, Lujan made 32 DCCC trips for fundraising events and visits to Frontline and candidate districts.
LEADER PELOSI SUCCESS:
- Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi is a fundraising force, both among grassroots and major donors.
- Leader Pelosi raised $16 million in the first quarter of 2016, including $14.2 million directly for the DCCC.
- In early April, Leader Pelosi raised $4.4 million for the DCCC from just two events in California, both featuring President Obama.
DCCC DIGITAL & GRASSROOTS SUCCESS:
- Grassroots supporters have also dug deep to elect House Democrats, particularly in recent months
- As of 3/31, the DCCC Digital & Direct Marketing fundraising team hit a major landmark by raising over 2 million grassroots donations this cycle, of less than $200 a piece.
- In March alone, the DCCC raised $2.8 million online, part of the whopping $7.3 million raised online in Q1 of 2016. According to POLITICO, the NRCC reports raising just $476K online in March.
o There is significant excitement and interest in getting involved to help elect House Democrats in 2016. Through the Direct Marketing & Digital Programs, the DCCC has brought in 60,000 new grassroots donors so far in 2016.
MEMBERS SUCCESS:
- Unlike the NRCC, which relies heavily on massive, multi-million dollar transfers from just a few Members of the Republican leadership, House Democrats are united and rallying together in huge numbers to support the DCCC and its mission. As of March, 160 members– 83% of the Democratic Caucus – had paid dues.
