Holland Voter Slams Bill Huizenga for Ripping Away Food from Kids, Then Posing for Phony Photo Op

In a scathing new letter, a Holland voter is calling out Bill Huizenga for gutting food assistance, then running to pose for a phony photo op at a local food bank in a desperate attempt to paper over his disastrous record.

As families across Michigan begin to lose their SNAP benefits in droves, the voter asks a simple question: “Will Kennedy and Huizenga visit another food bank then?”

REMINDER: More than 37,000 Michigan children are no longer receiving SNAP after Huizenga gutted the program.

DCCC Spokesperson Katie Smith:
“Bill Huizenga is a total fraud who spends his time in Washington rubber-stamping policies that hurt families and is nowhere to be found in Southwest Michigan, except when it comes time to pose for phony photo ops. Michiganders see right through Huizenga’s lies, and it will cost him his seat in November.”

Holland Sentinel: Front for the photo op

  • What hypocrisy to visit Kids’ Food Basket in Holland, supporting feeding needy children, when their Republican party slashed Medicaid and Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program benefits by $1.2 trillion in the One Big Beautiful Bill.
  • When U.S. Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and U.S. Rep. Bill Huizenga visited Kids’ Food Basket on June 18 for a photo op, did the public forget their party stood for tax cuts for the super-rich over feeding low-income families. Huizenga supported the bill which Donald Trump signed on July 4, 2025.
  • More than 3.5 million beneficiaries of SNAP, which provides food benefits to low-income individuals and families, lost such benefits between July and February. More state losses lie ahead as the new rules and paperwork kick in. Besides SNAP losses, an estimated 171,000 Michiganders may lose Medicaid coverage in 2028.
