HOT MIC: Castelli Admits He’s Trying to Hide His Extreme Views from North Carolinians

Castelli says the quiet part out loud as he confesses to running a “very conservative issues campaign” to win the Republican primary

Christian Castelli (NC-06) was caught on tape admitting to hiding his extreme views from North Carolina families for the general election. In an interview earlier this month, Castelli said he ran a “very conservative issues campaign” as a pro-life candidate to win the Republican primary:

“In the primary we ran a very conservative issues campaign to appeal to the Republican base so that they could pick their candidate. It was essentially pro God, pro country, pro life, pro gun, common sense, fiscal responsibility.”

Now that the race to November is on, Castelli is trying to hide his extreme views from North Carolina voters because he knows his extreme agenda is a dud. Last month, Castelli was caught scrubbing his website of any reference to abortion.

It’s going to take more than a website makeover to convince North Carolinians to overlook Castelli’s “very conservative … pro-life” agenda.

“Castelli is trying to lie about his true positions to North Carolina families, but his extreme agenda to outlaw abortion and jeopardize our health care can’t be erased,” said DCCC spokesperson Monica Robinson. “He’s a wolf that can’t get his sheep’s costume on quick enough.”
