House Democrats Continue to Build Momentum Nine Months Before Election Day

This Tuesday, Tom Suozzi overwhelmingly won the NY-03 special election. Yesterday, DCCC Chair Suzan DelBene celebrated Suozzi’s success and shared key takeaways from the special election that will inform the DCCC’s strategy to win back the Majority in November:

I think voters sent a very clear message that after a year of chaos and extremism, and lies and fraudulent behavior from their previous representative, that they wanted a leader that they could trust.

Clearly, in this race, in the debate, you saw Tom Suozzi’s opponent really struggle to just be straight on where she stood on reproductive rights… But this is an issue we’ve seen over and over and over again, and I don’t expect that to change.

We see a chasm between folks who want to stand up for rights and freedoms and democracy and build a strong future, and Republicans who are chaos, dysfunction, and extremism and have no interest in governing.

House Republicans seem to wait for [Trump’s] opinion before they decide what to do, and, again, that really shows that we don’t have moderate Republicans left or Republicans who are willing to stand up [to the extremes of their party].
