House Democrats Know How to Deliver For the People

During the first day of the DNC, House Democrats celebrate historic progress towards to lowering costs, growing the middle class, and supporting working families

On the first day of the Democratic National Convention, House Democrats are highlighting our track record of delivering real results for working families.

While House Republicans led the least productive Congress since the Great Depression, here’s a non-exhaustive list of what the House Democratic majority accomplished during the 117th Congress:

• Saved families an average of $300 a year on energy costs.

• Created more than 334,000 jobs through the Inflation Reduction Act – which is projected to create more than 1.5 million jobs by 2030 – as well as an additional 56,000 good-paying jobs through the CHIPS Act.

• Capped the cost of insulin at $35 a month for Medicare recipients, saving millions of Americans an average of $500 per year.

• Capped prescription drug costs for Medicare recipients at $2,000 per year (starting in 2025). More than 18 million seniors will save an average of $400 a year, 1.8 million of which could save as much as $2,500 a year.

• Kept the health care industry from raising costs on 13 million Americans who rely on the Affordable Care Act.

• Passed the PACT Act, which has helped provide more than $5.7 billion in earned benefits to veterans and their survivors.

• Expedited timelines for veterans to receive their earned care and benefits by several years.

• Secured free screenings for toxic exposures for millions of veterans.

• Spurred the creation or expansion of 83 new semiconductor manufacturing and supply chain facilities across the country.

• Attracted $447 billion in private investments across 25 states, boosting America’s chip manufacturing capacity while reducing our dependence on importing chips.

• Expanded opportunities at more than 50 community colleges to help workers access these job opportunities.
