Today, House Democrats took decisive action to lower gas prices. 207 Republicans voted ‘NO’.
Despite high demand, domestic oil production remains low as many oil companies choose not to expand in an effort to keep gas prices high by putting profits before people. Today the House passed legislation, introduced by Frontline Reps. Kim Schrier (WA-08) and Katie Porter (CA-47), that will crack down on energy companies’ efforts to gouge gas prices as Putin’s war in Ukraine grinds on.
Rather than support solutions and try to lower costs for everyday Americans, House Republicans sided with wealthy corporations at the expense of consumers.
DCCC spokesperson Chris Taylor:
“The Democratic Party is the only party in Washington fighting to solve problems and bring meaningful change to people’s lives. Democrats’ priority is lowering costs for working families, while Republicans’ priority is to win power by playing politics and siding with wealthy corporations.” |
