House Democrats Vote to Protect Access to Contraception

Today, the House passed Frontline Rep. Kathy Manning’s bill, the Right to Contraception Act, to enshrine women’s and families’ right to access contraception into federal law. This legislation comes in response to the Supreme Courts’ threat to revisit settled law like Griswold v. Connecticut, following the Republican-stacked Court’s decision to overturn 50 years of precedent and rip away the right for women to access reproductive health care.

195 Republicans voted against protecting access to contraception.

“Republicans’ continued efforts to rip away our reproductive freedoms leaves no room to take anything for granted,” said DCCC spokesperson Helen Kalla. “As Republicans plot to institute a nationwide abortion ban, we must fight to protect women’s freedoms from the GOP’s sinister agenda.”
