After holding the economy hostage in an attempt to force a dangerous job-killing recession, the House Freedom Caucus is once again using working families and the American economy for political brinkmanship as they call for a government shutdown, threatening to shut down the government if Speaker McCarthy doesn’t abandon the bipartisan spending framework saved by House Democrats.
If the Freedom Caucus gets their way, their shutdown would disrupt important services and programs everyday families and small businesses depend on, such as food inspections, home mortgage approvals, and national parks. Additionally, a government shutdown would freeze pay for hundreds of thousands of federal workers – including active-duty troops and law enforcement officers.
