House GOP Conference Chair Refuses to Commit to Certifying the 2024 Election – Will Michelle Steel and Young Kim?

Nearly three years to the day after a mob stormed the US Capitol, GOP Conference Chair Elise Stefanik would not commit to certifying the 2024 presidential election.

Will Michelle Steel and Young Kim — who are both endorsed by Stefanik and her personal leadership PAC — commit to certifying the election, or will they stand by Trump and Stefanik?

It’s important to remember that during the 2020 election certification, Steel “declined repeated requests to discuss Jan. 6 and the aftermath” and refused to answer “how she would have voted on the results and why she didn’t use a proxy that day.”

Make no mistake: Steel, Kim, GOP House leadership, and other vulnerable House Republicans are still enabling efforts to promote false conspiracy theories and undermine our democracy on Trump’s orders.

DCCC Spokesperson Dan Gottlieb:
“Michelle Steel and Young Kim’s silence on Stefanik’s extremism and election denialism is dangerous and telling. The House Republican caucus is totally beholden to Donald Trump’s vindictive ambitions, and for Steel and Kim, turning their backs on the middle class and falling in line comes easy when it comes time to play partisan power games.”
