Nearly three years to the day after a mob stormed the US Capitol, GOP Conference Chair Elise Stefanik would not commit to certifying the 2024 presidential election.
In 2020, California Republicans Mike Garcia and Ken Calvert both stubbornly refused to certify President Biden’s victory — even in the wake of the January 6 riots.
This time around, will Garcia and Calvert commit to certifying the election, or will they continue to stand by Trump and Stefanik?
Make no mistake: Garcia, Calvert, GOP House leadership, and other vulnerable House Republicans are still enabling efforts to promote false conspiracy theories and undermine our democracy on Trump’s orders.
DCCC Spokesperson Dan Gottlieb:
“Mike Garcia and Ken Calvert’s silence on Stefanik’s extremism and election denialism is dangerous and telling. For Garcia and Calvert, turning their backs on the middle class and falling in line comes easy when it comes time to play partisan power games. They betrayed their constituents in 2020 on behalf of Donald Trump — will this year be more of the same?” |
