Nearly three years to the day after a mob stormed the US Capitol, GOP Conference Chair Elise Stefanik would not commit to certifying the 2024 presidential election.
Will Tom Barrett — who is endorsed by Stefanik — commit to certifying the election, or will he stand by Trump and Stefanik?
Make no mistake: Barrett, GOP House leadership, and vulnerable House Republicans are still enabling efforts to promote false conspiracy theories and undermine our democracy on Trump’s orders.
It’s important to remember that two days before the deadly Jan. 6 insurrection, Tom Barrett participated in an “unsuccessful push” to delay certifying the results of the election. Barrett has also taken hundreds of dollars in donations from a Michigan fake elector facing eight felony charges.
