House Passes Frontline-Led Bill Restoring Pensions for Delphi Salaried Retirees

Today, thanks to Frontline Reps. Dan Kildee (MI-08) and Marcy Kaptur (OH-09), the House passed the Susan Muffley Act, legislation to restore retirement benefits to over 20,000 Delphi salaried retirees. 174 Republicans voted no.

When General Motors filed for bankruptcy more than a decade ago, the U.S. Pension Benefit Guaranty Corporation (PBGC) cut retirement benefits by as much as 70% for more than 20,000 Delphi Salaried Retirees. This legislation will ensure retirees across the U.S. will get their earned benefits.

“Thanks to the leadership of House Democrats like Dan Kildee and Marcy Kaptur, retirees will receive their hard-earned benefits,” said DCCC spokesperson Tommy Garcia. “If House Republicans had their way, thousands of retirees wouldn’t have access to their pensions, all while Republicans plot a plan to sunset Social Security.”
