House Republican Says “We’re Going to Get Killed” In Midterms

Jeff Van Drew acknowledges Republicans must extend ACA tax credits if they want any chance in 2026

New Jersey Republican Jeff Van Drew told Fox Business his party would lose control of the House.

“We need to deal with [health care] now because, number one, it’s the right thing to do, just morally,” Van Drew said Friday on Fox Business News. “Number two, we’re going to get killed [in 2026].”

However, when Mike Johnson was asked last week if he could promise a vote on extending the tax credits, Johnson said “No.”

DCCC Spokesperson Viet Shelton:
“We agree with Jeff Van Drew that House Republicans are poised to lose the majority next year. We will hold every pretend moderate who fails to address the Republican health care crisis accountable – and they will lose their seat.”

REMINDER: A majority of Americans blame Donald Trump and Congressional Republicans for refusing to extend the Affordable Care Act tax credits, according to a recent poll from KFF. 24 million Americans will face, on average, more than double the cost next year, forcing many to abandon their health coverage altogether.
