Yesterday, extreme MAGA Republicans, under the chaotic leadership of Kevin McCarthy, admitted that they may not adopt a budget resolution before the government is set to default this summer, a situation economists predict would lead to economic calamity.
For months, House Republicans have held the US economy hostage by refusing to pay America’s bills without massive cuts to essential, life-saving programs. McCarthy, and the House Republicans standing by his hostage plan, hope to roll back bipartisan efforts recently signed into law that are already lowering costs, creating better-paying jobs, strengthening our national security, supporting our veterans, and protecting our environment.
Now that House Republicans are admitting they won’t propose a separate budget plan in time, because they know their plan to gut things like Social Security and Medicare is deeply out of touch with the values and beliefs of everyday Americans, it is clear that Kevin McCarthy and extreme MAGA Republicans simply want to play politics with the financial well being of the United States.
