House Republicans Admit Their Gerrymandering Scheme Is Backfiring

Tom Emmer: “We’re not gonna win all 13 of those redistricted seats.”

Republicans’ attempt to rig the midterm elections is backfiring, leaving them $100 million in the hole and scrambling to salvage districts they thought were slam dunks.
That hubris is coming back to bite them — Axios and Punchbowl report that Republicans don’t even expect to win all the seats they gerrymandered.

According to Axios, House Majority Whip Tom Emmer says he’d be “surprised” and “shocked” if Republicans won all the districts they gerrymandered in Texas and Florida.

DCCC Spokesperson Liam Buckley:
“Nothing captures House Republicans’ political incompetence like scrambling to compete in districts they attempted to rig in their favor. When they’re looking for new jobs this winter, they should stay away from map making.”
