Just weeks after MAGA House Republicans held the nation’s economy hostage with the supposed purpose of reducing the federal deficit, late tonight they advanced a series of irresponsible bills out of the House Ways and Means committee that would increase the federal deficit by more than a trillion dollars over the next decade.
The centerpiece of this latest MAGA tax scam prioritizes the wealthiest few and big corporations, including voting to provide an $11 billion tax break directly to Big Oil producers. Their scheme would also kill thousands of clean energy jobs created through the Inflation Reduction Act.
DCCC Spokesperson Viet Shelton:
“Kevin McCarthy and MAGA Republicans have revealed their fiscal hypocrisy yet again. They aren’t serious about reducing the deficit, they are just interested in rewarding the wealthy and well-connected at the expense of creating good-paying jobs for the middle class. The American people rejected their unfair tax scam in 2018 and will do so again in 2024.”
