Because of Republicans, 42 million people risk having food ripped off their dinner tables
Republicans and Donald Trump have found a new political strategy this week: Let the people go hungry.
Republicans announced that, starting November 1st, they wouldn’t use the available emergency funds set aside by Congress for nutrition assistance – effectively cutting off all federal aid for SNAP benefits.
REMINDER: House Republicans already voted for the largest cuts to SNAP in history earlier this year, making Americans pay more for their groceries. Now, they’re doubling down on their cruelty and holding this key program hostage that feeds millions of Americans and keeps food affordable.
DCCC Spokesperson Viet Shelton: “House Republicans are on vacation, Donald Trump isn’t even in the country, and they refuse to lift a finger to help Americans who are struggling with the cost of groceries. It’s clear that they want more people to have less food. Their latest decision to rip food off of kitchen tables is so cruel that even Marie Antoinette would be appalled.”
