House Republicans’ Closing Pitch?

Last week Kevin McCarthy and House Republicans made headlines for their legislative priorities if they were to win the majority. Some examples from last week:

• Week after week, House Republicans reaffirm their commitment to ban abortion nationwide. Last week, Mike Pence urged Congress to prioritize a nationwide abortion ban.

• House Republicans said they’re willing to tank the U.S. economy as a means to cut Social Security and Medicare.

• House Republicans reportedly want to grant tax cuts to the super wealthy at the expense of everyday families, which will add to the deficit that Democrats just cut.

• And Kevin McCarthy suggested it’s likely that a GOP-controlled House would side with Russian dictator Vladimir Putin and not grant support to Ukraine as they fight to defend freedom. This would not only threaten global freedom but prolonged Russian aggression would likely increase prices and harm economies worldwide.

Democrats are running to lower prices, restore reproductive freedom, defend democracy, and build on the historic investments and progress we’ve made. The contrast between the two parties couldn’t be clearer.

“Republicans’ pitch to voters two weeks out from Election Day is that they want to ban abortion nationwide, tank the U.S. economy to gut Social Security and Medicare, give the wealthy deficit-busting tax breaks at the expense of everyday families, and bow to Russian dictator Vladimir Putin. When they tell you who they are, believe them.”
