House Republicans Fight To Block Oversight Of $1B In Small Business Funds Sent To Corporations

House Republicans voted against oversight of COVID-19 funds meant to help small businesses

The Washington Post reports that large corporations pocketed more than $1 billion of federal funding meant to help small businesses. But House Republicans are still fighting against providing oversight to ensure the funding goes to the mom and pop businesses hit hardest by the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Washington Post reports that, “nearly 300 public companies have reported receiving money from the fund.” And that the largest beneficiary, Monty Bennett, is a six-figure donor to the NRCC and House Republican efforts to take back the House majority.

Statement From DCCC Spokesperson, Fabiola Rodriguez:

“House Republicans are sitting on their hands as large corporations pocket more than $1 billion in relief meant for struggling small businesses. This is just another example of Washington Republicans putting their wealthy donors before the needs of every-day Americans.”
