Republicans will be forced to govern under difficult, narrow margins in just over a month from now, but Americans are already seeing how dysfunctional and chaotic the GOP caucus is. Over the past week, we’ve seen:
Kevin McCarthy make bargains with the most extreme flanks of the Republican party to scrape together enough support in his run for House speaker,
Multiple House Republicans already come out strongly against McCarthy’s speakership bid with “solid” nos,
Dozens of Republicans avoid condemning Donald Trump for dining with known white supremacist Nick Fuentes, who has already met with Paul Gosar and Marjorie Taylor Greene,
A GOP plan to prioritize politically motivated investigations and impeachment instead of growing and strengthening the economy,
And McCarthy’s ally and GOP powerbroker Marjorie Taylor Greene attack a sitting state senator with a homophobic and violence-inciting tweet less than two days after the mass shooting hate crime in Colorado Springs.
DCCC spokesperson Tommy Garcia:
“If the last few weeks are any indication, Kevin McCarthy’s MAGA Majority will be a dangerous, dysfunctional, and disastrous mess that threatens progress and the livelihoods of the American people.”
