As Kevin McCarthy struggled to secure enough support to become Speaker last week, he was forced to negotiate and hand over power to the most extreme MAGA Republicans in his caucus. While a lot of those backroom concessions were included in the rules package passed yesterday, a “secret three-page addendum” containing “the most controversial concessions” is still unknown and being withheld from most GOP members. Whether or not there is an official document, secret concessions are still unknown.
Not only are most House Republicans reportedly in the dark about these extreme and potentially dangerous concessions, but the American people are as well. Voters deserve to know what their representatives agreed to when they voted for McCarthy unconditionally, without knowing what he agreed to in his backroom deals.

“McCarthy loyalists already stood by as he desperately negotiated with extremists in exchange for their support. Now that McCarthy is Speaker, any Republican who is not banging on McCarthy’s door demanding to know what corrupt and secret concessions were made, has essentially handed the keys and power of their district over to McCarthy and MAGA extremists.”
