House Republicans: No Agenda for the American People and No Shame Attacking Democracy

AP: “Republicans are fighting to seize control of Congress. Just don’t ask what they’d do if they win.”

Six months into the 117th Congress, House Republicans still have no serious agenda for the American people. Rather, they’re focused on pushing dangerous conspiracy theories about the 2020 election.

Now, as dozens of Republican candidates are making baseless claims about election fraud central to their campaigns, Americans are wondering what House Republicans are actually fighting for.

Could it be that the “next generation of aspiring G.O.P. congressional leaders has aggressively pushed Donald Trump’s false fraud claims” because the GOP has no real priorities to run on?

Don’t forget that just last month, Leader McCarthy falsely stated, “I don’t think anybody is questioning the legitimacy of the presidential election.”

Meanwhile, House Democrats have gotten workers back on the job, millions of vaccines into Americans’ arms, and kids back in school thanks to a serious agenda including the American Rescue Plan. While Leader McCarthy, NRCC Chairman Tom Emmer, and the House GOP caucus are busy cowering to conspiracists and extremists, House Democrats will keep working on real legislation on behalf of the American people.

“House Republicans are so busy attacking our democracy, peddling conspiracies about the 2020 Presidential Election, and lying about the events of January 6th, they forgot to come up with a real policy agenda for the American people,” said DCCC Spokesperson Chris Taylor. “While Kevin McCarthy vies for the Speaker’s gavel, he and NRCC Chair Rep. Tom Emmer are recruiting a field of candidates more focused on the whims of people like Marjorie Taylor Greene and Donald Trump than the needs of the American people.”

What Others Are Saying …

Republican Governor Larry Hogan:

“The only way we can screw it up is with Donald Trump, […] swearing fealty to one individual.”

“… the Republican Party doesn’t seem to be focused on an agenda. It doesn’t seem to be focused on putting up coherent arguments for what  people care about.”

Former Tea Party Leader Mark Meckler:

“I’m unaware of a GOP agenda. I would love to see one.”

“Nobody knows what they’re about…They do this at their own peril.”
