House Republicans Promise Massive Handouts for the Ultra Wealthy and Well-Connected Over the Middle Class

Yesterday, House GOP leadership promised that, if they hold on to their dysfunctional majority next Congress, they plan to extend the GOP Tax Scam of 2017 to rig the tax code to benefit the well-off and well-connected at the expense of hard-working middle class families.

The original GOP Tax Scam in 2017 was a corporate tax giveaway that disproportionately benefited the ultra rich. The scam was an absolute disaster for working families, who saw no change in earnings, while top executive salaries increased sharply.

If House Republicans win the majority and pass their Tax Scam 2.0, more than 40% of the benefits would go to those in the top 5% income bracket, leaving middle class families to foot the bill.

DCCC Spokesperson Viet Shelton:
“Steve Scalise is reminding everyone that House Republicans don’t care about lowering costs for everyday families, just bailing out the ultra wealthy and big corporations. When the MAGA cult promises to extend the Trump tax scam – the so-called Republican moderates will join them, as they have done time and time again over the past year and a half.”
